A tender perennial similar in use and appearance to Allium tuberosum (garlic chives), but with strap-shaped leaves and lilac-pink flowers. It is also considered somewhat less palatable. Blooms from July to September. Heat-tolerant, it does best in full sun with consistent moisture during the growing season. May be grown in containers and brought indoors for overwintering in a bright, cool area (40-50 degrees F) with minimal watering. 1-2'H x 0.75-1'W. USDA Zones 7-10.
