Basil - Ocimum basilicum
A herbaceous annual with fragrant leaves commonly used as a culinary herb in soups, salads, pastas, sandwiches, etc. Produces showy, fragrant flowers from June to frost. Full sun, low maintenance; basil appreciates moderately rich, well-drained soil and regular watering. Can be grown in containers. The leaves can be dried for future use. Deer-resistant, repellent to aphids, mites, and tomato hornworms. Very frost-sensitive. 1.5-2'H x 1.5-2'W. USDA Zones 2-11.
