A bushy, fragrant herbaceous perennial typically grown for its bright green, lemon-scented leaves. The flowers (blooming from June to August) are inconspicuous but honeybees love them. Leaves are edible and may be added to salads, soups, or sauces, and are used to flavor teas. Dried foliage and flowers are nice in sachets and potpourri. Historically, lemon balm had medicinal uses as well. Great for herb gardens, border fronts, and even as a groundcover throughout informal areas. Easily grown in dry to medium, well-drained soils with full sun to partial shade. This plant appreciates protection from the hot afternoon sun. Frequent pruning helps maintain a neat form. Tolerates drought, deer, and slope. 1.5-2'H x 1.5-3'W. USDA Zones 3-7.
