Asclepias speciosa (Showy Milkweed)

More compact (1 to 4 feet tall, 12 to 18 inch spread) variety of milkweed that thrives in full sun and is drought tolerant.  Produces clusters of pinkish-white to pinkish-purple flowers from late spring to midsummer.  Blooms attract butterflies, and foliage is an important food source for Monarch caterpillars.
