Chives - Allium schoenoprasum var. sibiricum 'Gigantic' (Gigantic Onion Chives)

Similar to the straight species but slightly larger (up to 2' tall), these fast-growing, flat leaves are gray-green with a mild onion flavor and just a hint of garlic. This variety produces globes of bright white, star-shaped edible flowers in late summer. Delicious with salads, vegetables, egg dishes, and soups. Used to edge herb, vegetable, or flower gardens, or grown in containers. Reported to be rich in vitamin C, fiber, potassium, vitamin A, carotene, thiamine, and riboflavin, as well as in minerals, especially calcium and iron.
