A woody shrub that produces shiny, lanceolate green leaves (3-4" long) that have a strong aroma and taste of lemon. Synonymous with Aloysia triphylla, Lippia citriodora, Verbena citriodora, and Verbena triphylla. Used for cooking (teas, desserts, fruit salads, jams, etc.), perfumes and cosmetics, potpourris, and herbal medicine. This may be grown as an annual plant (in moist, light, well-drained fertile loam with full sun) or in containers overwintered indoors in bright, cool locations with minimal watering (plants lose leaves indoors). Prune the tips from the main stems to promote branching and a shrubbier form. 2-4'H x 2-4'W. USDA Zones 8-10.
