Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary)

$5.95

A fragrant, semi-woody perennial similar in use, appearance, growth, and maintenance requirements to lavender but less winter-hardy and more commonly used for culinary purposes. The leaves are also greener, more needle-like, and meatier in texture. Petite, two-lipped, pale blue to white flowers bloom from June to July. The leaves are commonly used (fresh or dried) in a variety of cooking applications (the bitter, astringent taste and a characteristic aroma complements many cooked foods) and for herbal teas; the leaves and flowers are used in sachets; the oil is used commercially in perfumes, lotions, and other toiletries. Can be used in various types of gardens; good for border or foundation plantings; also good as an ornamental specimen, low hedge and topiary. Container plants are attractive additions to patios, decks, and other sunny areas around the home. Attracts butterflies and bees; tolerates deer, drought, and pruning. 2-6'H x 2-4'W. USDA Zones 8-10.
