Acanthus 'Morning Candles' (Bear's Breeches)

Large (3 to 5 feet tall, 2 to 3 foot spread), clump-forming perennial with attractive foliage and bold flower spikes reminiscent of snapdragons.  Tolerates a wide range of soils but does need good drainage.  Full sun to part shade; may not flower well in too much shade. 'Morning Candles' is a hybrid variety of acanthus spinosus and acanthus mollis.
